About the Role
We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers delivering high-quality software that powers our EHS platform. As a first-line manager, you will be responsible for your team’s delivery, health, and growth — staying close enough to the technical work to be a credible partner to engineers while driving outcomes across the product.
You will work closely with Product Management, QA, and peer engineering teams to plan and execute on commitments, remove blockers, and build a team culture of quality, ownership, and continuous improvement. 75% or more of this role is technical and being hands-on in code on a day to day basis.
What You’ll Do:
Technical Credibility
Drive AI usage & adoption to improve quality, velocity and time to market.Drive technical and architectural decisions to meet product requirements while also anticipating and designing for future needs.Maintain sufficient technical depth to participate meaningfully in design discussions and code reviewsBroad, deep understanding of the entire system architectureAssess complexity, risk, and quality of work in your team’s area of the codebaseIdentify when a technical approach is likely to cause problems, even when not writing code yourselfGuide senior engineers toward subject matter expertise and best practicesDrive automated testing practices to reduce manual testing overheadStay current with technology trends to make credible decisions about scope, hiring, and technical directionActively use AI-assisted development tools (such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor) to maintain hands-on technical credibility alongside your teamTeam Leadership & People Development
Manage a team of Software Engineers, including task planning, recruitment, performance management, and career developmentPartner with and mentor the Scrum Master on ceremonies, helping the team understand the backlog from both a product and engineering perspectiveGive clear, timely feedback and actively support engineers in identifying and pursuing growth opportunitiesCoach each team member to excel in their role and build a meaningful career pathFoster an inspiring, open, and highly productive team cultureChampion the adoption of AI-assisted development practices within your team — coaching engineers on effective usage and factoring these tools into how work is scoped and plannedDelivery & Execution
Own your team’s delivery — plan work, manage dependencies, and keep commitments on trackIdentify and remove blockers before they affect the team’s outputMaintain a clear picture of team commitments and communicate proactively when they are at riskBalance delivery pressure with sustainable pace and long-term qualityDrive all aspects of development including requirements, design, implementation, testing, and integrationCollaboration & Communication
Work closely with Product Management to understand and deliver features aligned with the product roadmapCollaborate cross-functionally with QA, product, and other engineering teamsCommunicate team priorities and context clearly to both engineers and stakeholdersRaise issues and risks proactively rather than working around themWhat We’re Looking For:
Experience & Skills
7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, ideally with SaaS applications7+ years of experience with .NET Core, .NET Framework, or equivalentPrior experience mentoring or leading engineersProficiency with technologies including C#, .NET, JavaScript, and Angular/TypeScriptWorking knowledge of MS SQL Server, SQL, and stored proceduresFamiliarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or CursorSolid understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologiesStrong grasp of object-oriented programming principlesLeadership Qualities
