Project Overview:
Bechtel is partnering with NextDecade to support their vision to provide the world access to lower carbon intensive energy with their Rio Grande LNG (RGLNG) project in Brownsville, Texas. RGLNG is a natural gas liquefaction and export terminal situated on a 984-acre site on the banks of the Brownsville ship channel. The first phase of the RGLNG project consists of three liquefaction trains, two storage tanks and one marine berth. At full capacity, the five-train facility will have a production capacity of 27 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

Job Summary:
The Commissioning & Startup Analyzer Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and documenting commissioning, startup, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and turnover activities associated with process analyzers, analyzer shelters, sample conditioning systems, calibration gas systems, and analyzer interfaces with integrated control systems. The role provides field-based technical leadership to ensure analyzer systems are installed, preserved, calibrated, integrated, and ready to support safe, reliable LNG facility startup and operations. #LI-SP1
Major Responsibilities:
Commissioning & Startup Execution
- Support pre-commissioning, Lead commissioning, and startup activities for online process analyzers and sample conditioning systems.
- Develop and execute analyzer commissioning plans, work packages, SAT procedures, functional testing, and turnover activities.
- Verify analyzer readiness before process introduction, cooldown, first gas, performance testing, and operational handover.
- Coordinate analyzer preservation, temporary power needs, shelter readiness, utilities, calibration gas availability, and field access requirements.
Analyzer Testing, Calibration & Validation
- Perform and witness analyzer calibration, validation, loop checks, alarm testing, signal verification, and communication checks.
- Execute and document SAT and functional testing for gas chromatographs, moisture analyzers, oxygen analyzers, XEFD analyzers, sample systems, and CEMS packages.
- Verify analyzer performance against vendor requirements, project specifications, and site operating needs.
- Ensure simulated signals are restored to normal service and test records are properly completed.
Technical Troubleshooting & Reliability Support
- Diagnose analyzer, sample system, communication, and integration issues during commissioning and startup.
- Provide daily technical support to Startup, Operations, Maintenance, Construction, and Engineering teams.
- Lead root cause investigations for persistent analyzer reliability or performance issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Support continuous improvement of analyzer quality systems and online analyzer certification readiness.
System Integration & Interfaces
- Verify analyzer integration with ICSS, PCS, ESD, analyzer management systems, historians, and reporting platforms.
- Coordinate interface reviews with control systems engineers, process engineers, operations, vendors, and client analyzer personnel.
- Validate analyzer alarms, diagnostic signals, trends, calculated values, communications, and handover status.
- Support AMADAS or equivalent analyzer data management system commissioning.
Documentation, Turnover & Vendor Coordination
- Review vendor documentation, drawings, datasheets, analyzer package information, and commissioning requirements.
- Prepare commissioning procedures, test reports, punch-list inputs, as-built markups, and analyzer turnover packages.
- Coordinate vendor representatives and subcontractors to support construction, commissioning, and startup schedules.
- Support operations training, maintenance readiness, and final handover of analyzer systems.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Extensive experience in process analyzer installation, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, or maintenance.
- Experience in LNG, petrochemical, refinery, gas processing, or chemical plant environments.
- Demonstrated knowledge of analyzer technologies, gas measurement, natural gas chemistry, process sampling systems, and analyzer package integration.
- Ability to interpret vendor manuals, process and instrumentation diagrams, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, network drawings, and project specifications.
- Ability to work safely in field conditions and support multiple priorities under potentially hazardous or schedule-driven startup conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous LNG commissioning and startup experience on a large greenfield project.
- Experience with analyzer data management systems such as AMADAS or equivalent platforms.
- Experience coordinating analyzer vendors, specialty service providers, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Familiarity with Bechtel CSU, system turnover, work packaging, and project completion processes.
- Strong working knowledge of control system integration, analyzer communication interfaces, and field troubleshooting practices.
